Welcome to Connect2Dance.comSo here's the thing; I got frustrated trying to find possible dance partners in my area. I tried sites like dancepartner.com where you have to put in your profile, and can then search through some 54,000 other dances to find people in your area that are also looking... BUT, then comes the rub. You have to sign-up for a $15/month subscription in order to email the perspective candidates, or respond to those that may want to contact you. I went to MySpace.com, but finding dancers there isn't easy, especially those in your area. Yes, it was free, and I do have a MySpace account so I can use their messaging system, but the seeking process wasn't worth the effort. Then I tried meetup.com, to see if there were any meetup groups in the area that I could join/attend to meet other dancers and possibly find a partner. UGH! No meet-up groups in my area... BUT there was a 'waiting list' of many people in the area that were interested in joining such a group. In fact, I found that to be the case for many locations. It seemed though, that none of them wanted to START a group, probably because again, there was a subscription cost involved. Having spent 35 years designing systems for government and companies around the world, I realized that there was both necessity and opportunity here. A necessity required for the dance community, and an opportunity to earn enough to support such a website. So I took on the project at my own expense. Here it is. At the moment it is operational, but not complete, and not totally 'debugged' but we're close. So here it is. Connect2Dance.com. Made exclusively for the dancing community, it is a social network, partner locator and meet-up coordinator all in one place, and most importantly, all FREE to users. I invite everyone to take a few moments to "sign up" for your own Connect2Dance.com FREE website. What could make it better? What other features would be handy? Let me know and I'll see what I can do. The whole purpose is to be responsive to the dance community, so I ask for your support and participation. Thanks! | |
